La Bussola has gone through many changes in 4 years of business in downtown Reno. We have found our passion thru nurturing artists, supporting the community overall and providing a family friendly atmosphere in the River Walk District. We have built the recognizable brand of a business with local and national media as well as invaluable word of mouth promotion.
2007 was to be La Bussola's year. We had plans for expansion, renovation and producing jobs downtown. Those plans were put on hold due to our "relocation".
We want to be located downtown on the River Walk. We want to continue to expose people to new and emerging artists in our area in an environment that is friendly, comfortable and accessible. We want to help artists gain exposure allowing them to do what they love.
La Bussola has spent our years in Reno being actively involved in
· River Walk Merchants Association
· Arts and Culture Commission - Arts District Committee
· Halloween Hallows 2007 planning committee
· Big Sister with Big Brother Big Sisters of Northern Nevada
· Nevada Artist Association Committee Member
· Best of Winner 2005-2007 News and Review & Reno Magazine
· Opened the non-profit Heart Spot Gallery benefiting Nevada Aids Foundation
· Raised money for over 50 non-profit organizations
· Serving as an informal "visitor center" for all types of people visiting downtown
· Opened Deuce at the Sands Hair Salon & Boutique with Salon 7
· Supported the work of over 150 artists.
We are asking for your support. La Bussola is trying to raise money to grow our business and become more financially solvent. We absolutely love what we do and want to be able to build a future for La Bussola in the community.
If your experience with La Bussola as an artist, neighbor, supporter or friends is one that you want to experience in the future, then we would appreciate you writing a letter on our behalf to use to submit to the Reno Growth Opportunity Fund. This would help in our efforts to once again be downtown and make it financially possible to improve the quality of the River Walk area and grow the idea of La Bussola into a financially viable business.
